Lourdes faith healing effects miraculous cure and complete regeneration of a hip bone formerly disintegrated due to malignant sarcomaMiracles happen, not in opposition to Nature, by Healing Cancer Naturally © 2007 I recently read Michael Talbot’s stunning work “The Holographic Universe” which is replete with scientifically corroborated testimonials to the the power of belief (placebo effect) and the holographic nature of both the “physical” universe and our minds and bodies. In a chapter headed “The beliefs embodied in our faiths”, the author relates the following beautiful and amazing cancer healing story involving a man from Italy who suffered from malignant sarcoma. By 1962, Vittorio Michelli had developed a large cancerous tumor on his left hip for which he was admitted to the Military Hospital of Verona. He was soon sent back home, however, since no treatment was considered to offer any hope. Within ten months his hip bone then disintegrated to the point where the ball of his upper leg was freely floating in a mass of soft tissue (as documented via x ray which shows a gray mist where normally a well-defined hip bone would appear). He was confined in a plaster cast which restricted his movements. In this desperate situation, Michelli decided to travel to Lourdes where he was bathed in the spring. As soon as he entered the water, a sensation of heat moved through his body. After the bath his appetite returned and he felt renewed energy. He took several more baths and then returned home. The following month, an increasing sense of wellbeing made him insist another X ray be taken to determine the state of his tumor. To the amazement of his doctors, his tumor had shrunk. This prompted his physicians to document every step in the continuing improvement which followed. Not only did Michelli's tumor completely disappear, but his bone began to regenerate (a medical impossibility as per general view). It took him just two months to be up and walking again, and his bone completely reconstructed itself over the course of the next several years. The Vatican's Medical Commission, an international panel of physicians set up to investigate such matters, examined Michelli's case and decided Michelli had experienced a “miracle”. According to the commission’s official report (O'Regan, Special Report, p. 9.), "A remarkable reconstruction of the iliac bone and cavity has taken place. The X rays made in 1964, 1965, 1968 and 1969 confirm categorically and without doubt that an unforeseen and even overwhelming bone reconstruction has taken place of a type unknown in the annals of world medicine."* Michael Talbot observes, “Was Michelli's healing a miracle in the sense that it violated any of the known laws of physics? ... there
seems no clearcut reason to believe any laws were violated. Rather, Michelli's healing may simply be due to natural processes we do not yet understand. Given the phenomenal range of healing capacities we
have looked at so far [in previous chapters of The Holographic Universe], it is clear there are many pathways of interaction between the mind and body that we do not yet understand. * Note by Michael Talbot: “In a truly stunning example of synchronicity, while I was in the middle of writing these very words a letter arrived in the mail informing me that a friend who lives in Kauai, Hawaii, and whose hip had disintegrated due to cancer has also experienced an "inexplicable" and complete regeneration of her bone. The tools she employed to effect her recovery were chemotherapy, extensive meditation, and imagery exercises. The story of her healing has been reported in the Hawaiian newspapers.”
