For Anyone Thinking of Having Mainstream Cancer Treatment

Or Anyone You Know Who Is Thinking of It...

I thought this might be some convincing evidence NOT to have such treatment. It concerns what my mother is going through right now.

This is from another board I'm on, written by me:

"Harry and others,

I GREATLY appreciate your mentioning the possibilities of bowel ‘complications’ from radiation. I would like to STRENGTHEN your warning, and add some details to it:

My mother is currently in the hospital recovering from MAJOR Surgery due to bowel "complications" because of what are termed "adhesions" that formed in her abdomen subsequent to radiation she received for a tumor on her upper thigh.

I ASKED THE RADIOLOGIST SOME 6 TIMES prior to my mother having the radiation just what side effects and complications she might expect from the radiation treatments.

ALL SIX TIMES THE RADIOLOGIST REPLIED THAT THE WORST MY MOTHER COULD EXPECT WOULD BE SOMETHING AKIN TO A "BAD SUNBURN" ON HER UPPER THIGH. WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! LIES! LIES! LIES!

DO NOT AT ALL NECESSARILY TRUST THAT YOUR UROLOGIST, RADIOLOGIST, ONCOLOGIST OR SURGEON IS TELLING YOU THE WHOLE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO GO THROUGH SUBSEQUENT TO CHEMO"THERAPY", RADIATION OR SURGERY.

I was under the VERY MISTAKEN impression that radiologists can significantly pinpoint what area they want the radiation to hit. NOT SO! My mother's abdomen and intestines were SERIOUSLY affected by the radiation, NOT AT ALL just her upper thigh. Here is what she suffered:

~ For some 3 WEEKS her inner and outer vagina and surrounding areas "felt like they were in flames."

~ For between 4 and 5 MONTHS she had terrible, continuous diarrhea.

It was so bad, she could not go out anywhere, and she ended up in the hospital due to dehydration and seriously unbalanced electrolytes.

~ As I have already mentioned, she ended up with hard, thick scar tissue in her abdomen, and with adhesions that her intestines are now getting stuck on, causing the kind of LIFE-THREATENING EMERGENCIES such as the one she had last Saturday night.

Regarding the diarrhea my mother experienced, there is a common condition called "Radiation Enteritis" that radiologists DO NOT AT ALL necessarily warn people about when treating them with radiation.

It is a condition of continuously frequent, sudden, watery or bloody diarrhea caused by PERMANENT radiation damage to the intestines, and there is NO significantly effective way to treat it. People who end up with radiation enteritis become invalids from the condition! What kind of life can one lead when there is always the immediate possibility that sudden liquid diarrhea will splash down one's legs and into one's shoes?

Regarding adhesions, when the intestines get stuck on an adhesion, (which is, I gather, a hard, protruding, "finger-like" growth of scar tissue from the radiation), they shut down, causing terrible pain and vomiting, and necessitating immediate medical intervention. The adhesions can be removed surgically, but there is VERY significant likelihood that they will grow back, and even that NEW adhesions will form from the surgery done to remove them! Not only that, but during ANY surgery on or around the intestines, there is ALWAYS the possibility that the surgeon may cut or nick the some part of the intestine, and of course a perforated intestine is EXTREMELY SERIOUS!!!

For those reasons I have just mentioned, surgeons are very reluctant to operate on people to remove adhesions. The usual treatment is for the person with the adhesion-caused bowel obstruction to be admitted to the hospital, where he or she lies in bed, waiting and hoping the intestine will free itself and drop back to where it's supposed to be. It's not at all unusual for that to happen, but unfortunately, it's ALSO not unusual, after the person leaves the hospital, for the intestine to get hung up on the adhesions again...and AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN WITHOUT END!!!

The reason I've said the radiologist who treated my mother was lying is because the intern who examined her last week said hard abdomenal scar tissue and adhesions are so common as to be EXPECTED subsequent to such treatment.

Many people coming to this Alternative Prostate Treatment Board appear to want to keep one foot in Mainstream Treatment and one foot in Alternative Treatment. For the reasons I have mentioned, if I were ever again diagnosed with cancer [Elliot Yudenfriend cured himself of lymphoma, considered incurable by mainstream medicine], I would do EVERYTHING alternative I possibly could before ever again considering any mainstream treatment.

There are a great many people around, some of whom are my friends and acquaintances, who have had mainstream treatment of one kind or another who say, "If I'd known what it was going to be like---if I'd known what I was going to suffer, I'd NEVER have consented to the treatment!"

Rest assured my mother will NEVER have radiation treatment again.

Oh, yes---an after-thought... Not only does mainstream treatment come with all the SERIOUS side effects I have described, but in some 98 percent of cases it is immediately or ultimately INEFFECTIVE!!!
